The evite read something like this:
Shhh It's a Surprise Birthday for Josh Morin!!
Monday June 9th, 7 pm at the Grasshopper's GameLeading up to the big day, Josh wanted to invite various people, for example, Colleen and Mike. They were obviously in on the surprise, so to throw Josh off, they made up reasons that they couldn't make it. Other friends really did have other plans, so Josh thought that it would just be us at the game. This made him pretty sad too, but he shrugged it off and was a good sport. . .
A large group of friends was secretly able to come and were waiting behind and beside the large baseballs as Josh and I walked up to the gate. At the same time, they all turned around and said 'Surprise!'. Our friends Jermaine and Susan were able to get free tickets for the game and so everyone had a complimentary ticket. We sat on the third base side in the shade (because it was in the 90's yesterday!) and tried to stay cool.
One of the highlights was that Spaz, the goofy entertainer that runs the skits/games/in between inning acts, came over to us in the 8th inning. (Our friend Steve had arranged this - thanks Steve!) Josh had to guess how many people were in attendance that night- he was given four choices. . . and he guessed correctly!! Honestly though, our friends helped him because he was so nervous and excited that he couldn't really even remember the numbers. But we won a gift card to the Chop House! Yeah!
After the game, we went to a local brewery and had appetizers, a sampler of their seasonal brews and smoked a strong cigar. Well, everyone else did, I didn't.
What a fun night! We got home late and fell into bed. Happy 30th Birthday Josh!!
PS Front of Josh's shirt '30 looks good'
Back of Josh's shirt 'on me'
