21 weeks- Andrew Caleb

Time is flying by.  Our little love will soon be 5 months old!

Some developments this week-  
increased lung capacity/volume
This child is passionate.  Oh my ears.  :)

Andrew's able to go longer between naps and he's developing a strong opinion/habit of skipping his last nap.  :)

see the nice drool mark on my shoulder!!  :)

Increased hand/eye coordination- able to grab at a toy, get ahold of it, hold onto it and bring it to his mouth.  He's thrilled with himself and is entertained for stretches of time.

20 weeks- Andrew

What a big week Andrew has had!!  He started taking naps again, which made him less fussy when he was awake.  AND (drum roll)

really?  he shouldn't be street legal.

He's sleeping through the night!!!!!
(cue angels singing, crowd cheering)

He loves to chew his hands and fingers.  He's really interested in chewing my hand/fingers- anything he can get his hands on, he brings to his mouth. It's pretty darn cute, especially when he's chewing on his own foot.

He's gotta great grip and I have to be especially careful of my hair around him.  He'll grab onto Zach too- which isn't appreciated at this stage.

He's also growing, growing, growing!!  His outfits are all 6 months or 6/9 months.  He's eating a TON- like, crazy amounts.  30+ oz a day.  I gave him a dreamfeed last night just to see and he drank 7oz.  This is after a 30oz day!

He's silly and giggly and drooly and squealy and loud!  I love this stage!  And we love Andrew!!

19 weeks- Andrew Caleb

hello.  i'm adorable.  

Andrew is 19 weeks old today.  Babies have what's known as a 'wonder week' right around 19 weeks of age.  It's described as a time when baby becomes increasingly aware of his surroundings and his body.  It's also the time babies are said to be the fussiest, clingiest, sleep routine is off, naps are short, not eating as much, etc., etc.

For Andrew, he's definitely more fussy.  He definitely has an opinion- loudly expressed- if we put him down for any reason (diaper change, to rest our tired arms, to sit in a bouncy chair, etc.).   His volume and lung capacity- ahem- have definitely increased!  When he's upset- the neighbors know it!
 

He's very interested in spitting/blowing bubbles with his mouth, interacting with you face to face- and in close range!  (i.e. don't think you're gonna chop veggies and coo at me Mom- I need to see you close up!)

He's rolling over from tummy to back.  His move is to the left.  He's not quite as practice rolling right.  Maybe this will be a basketball move later in life??  Rolling from back to tummy is almost there- he gets stuck on one arm and can't quite make the final move.

What a blessing that this sweet boy is developing well and figuring out himself and the world around him!

He's struggling to fall asleep these days because he's rolling all over all.the.time!  :)  His naps are also shorter and sometimes, he just skips 1 or 2 altogether!  This definitely makes him sleepy and grumpy, but I know it's just a phase, so we roll with it.
  

I haven't seen a decrease in his eating- but actually an increase.  This may be because we've moved to a 4 hr feeding routine.  He's eating about 7 to 8oz per feeding!  Which makes his daily intake right around 30 oz.  I think little guy is going to soon become chunky and round!

Our schedule generally looks like this-

7am Wake/Eat
8ish Nap
11am Eat
12ish Nap
3pm Eat
4ish Nap
6:30 ish Eat
7pm Bed

Middle of the Night Wakings- OH MY- these have increased.  Sometimes, it's best not to count, because then you just want to stay in pjs all day.  While he's waking more frequently, he's easily soothed with a paci and does fall asleep quickly.  Other times, he wakes because he's flipped over and isn't comfortable.  :)  Bless him.

Andrew Caleb you are a delight to use every day!  We looooove you and are so proud of all the progress you're making developmentally!  It's such a privilege to be your Mommy and Daddy.  Take it easy on us tonight, okay man?  ;)

16 Weeks- Andrew Caleb

Andrew had a really fun week!  Nana, Papa and doggy Kodi were visiting us.  Uncle Kevin is continuing his stay and the boys both love him!  We celebrated Jesus and His resurrection.  Andrew even had a night when he slept 11 hours!!

14 weeks- Andrew Caleb

Does your heart melt like mine, staring into those beautiful brown eyes?  Oh my soul, this boy.  He is the sweetest little Love.  His personality is just so laid back, relaxed.  He like to have fun though- and boy, does he squeal!  High pitched and squeaky!  He loves to smile and even giggle!  He's more alert, more aware, more engaged.  It's really such a fun time.

Andrew's mohawk is growing in and getting thicker.  I didn't think it could get better- but it has.  :)  I love it.

This sweet one is rarely without a bib.  He drools over everything!!!  If I forget a bib- or if the bib isn't absorbent enough, he will need a change of clothes.  (I don't want him to be uncomfortable with a wet collar).

Our favorite bibs are made by my girlfriend.  She sells them locally.  They're the best.  She made this for us!

Andrew- we adore you at 14 weeks!!  Mommy only wishes you would sleep at night son!  But, you must be growing (full feeding at 10:30pm, 3am and 6:40am last night) and we are so thankful you're healthy! xoxo

Andrew at 12 weeks

Look at how big this baby boy is!  He is squishy, soft and just precious. Andrew has continued to show us his fun-loving personality, smiling with his tongue out and squealing with delight.  He even seems to giggle sometimes, which is just. the. BEST!

After reviewing a 24 hour period, during which I made notes on when he slept/ate/etc., I noticed he 1) sleeping a lot during the day and 2) missing a feeding.  So, a big change in our world is I am waking Andrew every 3 hours to eat.  The first night, he slept longer between feedings.  The 2nd night, the pattern continued.  Last night, he only ate once!  Tonight. . . . . we'll see!!!  :)

The general parenting rule is never wake a sleeping baby- but in this case, I'd rather wake my sleeping baby so he and I can sleep through the night.  (no pressure, big guy- your brother slept through at 11.5 weeks. . . )

As you can see, he's gorgeous.  He continues to rock the mohawk.  He smiled/giggled at Zachary this week.  And every feeding is about ~4oz.

We sure have had a fun week with this growing boy!  

A few notes:

someone's been growing!  he's wearing 3-6 month now :)

his hair is growing in a bit on the sides 

dirtying his diaper several times a day

eating his hands whenever possible

Andrew at 10 weeks

Andrew's measurements
25 1/4 Inches
12 lbs 12 oz

He is quick to smile and coo.  He seems very interested in Zach and follows him with his eyes. :)
He enjoys eating his hands.
His legs still curl up under him when he's snuggling, but more and more I find them stretched out during naps.
He switched to a larger opening in his bottle nipples and is drinking ~4oz a feeding.

We love this little boy SO MUCH!!!!
