Day 3-5, Trinidad

The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.  Psalm 118: 14

The days were long, but the week was short. Each morning we arrived at the club around 8:45 and stayed until 10.  During that time, we would have songs, a Bible story or someone's personal testimony.  There was also a prank each day pulled on Andy, one of the rising collegiates.

After this time with the younger kids, Josh and I would leave to prepare for the bus loads of 11-19 yr olds that were participating in the sports camp.  Josh was in charge of American baseball, Marshall American football and myself, basketball.  Tuesday was by far the most difficult for me, as the younger kids stole our basketballs and were bored by their surroundings.  (we left them at the club after Tuesday)  Andy, Andrea, Seth and myself made a point to let the students know that while we came to teach them basketball and to love them, the real reason was to tell them that Jesus loved them and had a plan for their life.

We ended camp around 1 and after the buses left with the kids, our bus came to take us to lunch.  Usually at Subway or KFC or Popeye's.  This was our recoup time and we needed it!  There were 70+ kids at the camp and 40+ younger kids at the police club!  Whew!

After lunch, we met the sports camp group again at a local field where we would engage in a real, full out game.  Tues: American football in the rain- so fun!!  Wed: American baseball Thurs: Trinis taught us Cricket Friday: exhibition basketball game, Trinis vs. Americans
It was a whirlwind of a trip!  Many details I have left out, but you get the overall picture.
